Düsseldorf
The state capital of Düsseldorf, right in the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia, offers a wide range of cultural and musical activities. Düsseldorf is home to a large number of very different music and cultural venues, from small clubs to large concert halls. The Mitsubishi Electric HALLE has been a cult venue for concerts and shows for over 50 years, while the Deutsche Oper am Rhein looks back on a long tradition and is one of Germany's major opera houses - to name just two examples. A lot of the city's musical heritage in its variety of styles and genres can also be found in the bars and clubs of Düsseldorf's Old Town. For over 50 years, musicians, artists and other creative minds started their career here, influential bands performed or wellknown DJs played.
One of these venues is the Ratinger Hof, where numerous bands startef off and set the trend for future generations. International well known examples are Kraftwerk and Die Toten Hosen with their significant influence on pop culture. The extraordinary pop music city tour "The Sound of Düsseldorf" shows precisely these places where music history was written and the spirit of Düsseldorf as a music city is passed on.
Why Music cities network?
"
"As the founding of Music Düsseldorf shows, Düsseldorf is a significant player in the music sector. To connect internationally, we decided to join this network. Membership is a fantastic opportunity for Düsseldorf to exchange and share experiences and knowledge with other music cities across borders and city limits. The exchange of best practice examples is essential for further development,"
