Full house @ MCN reception & panel during Reeperbahn Festival 2017
During this year’s Reeperbahn Festival Friday the Music Cities Network held a reception and gave insights into the network, followed by a panel discussion on the subject of the Future of Venue Communication.
MCN was happy to be part of the program at the newly established Hamburg Haus at St. Pauli Museum hosted by the Hamburg Music Business Association, which was a suitable and cosy setting for the talks and exchanges.
The panel focussed on a short presentation of an excerpt of the just finished venue report, including findings and recommendations and discussed the current challenges and needs within this field.
Amongst others, the following questions were discussed: What makes a person decide to go to a concert these days? How can venues in cities collaborate to enhance audiences? What are the best tools to empower your existing audiences for festivals and venues? What role will venues/festivals play in the future society?
Panelists: Aarhus (DK): Martin Aagaard Jensen, Project Coordinator, Radar; Groningen (NL): Merlijn Poolman, Entrepreneur and Chairman, Popstad BV Groningen & Subciety; Hamburg (GER): Andi Schmidt, Owner, Molotow Club,
Hamburg; Moderator: Lena Ingwersen, Project Manager, Music Cities Network.
With a lively discussion at the end of the panel and a lot of interest in the first publication of the MCN, the network wants to continue to host events like this in the future.
