Always, Everywhere: Manchester's Cultural Ambition
Manchester’s ten-year cultural framework sets out a strategic vision for the city’s culture ecosystem under 3 key pillars that reflect the breadth and wealth of feedback received thorough the consultation.
Culture is very important to Manchester. It shapes our communities and tells our story to the world.
Our creative lives are inspiring, healing, energizing, and fun. Culture and creativity attract people, talent, ideas, and jobs. It happens everywhere and means everything to us, connecting with everyone.
In 2023 and 2024, we asked for your input on a new cultural plan. We reached out to our communities and worked with many cultural partners. We also looked at other cities for ideas.
We know culture happens everywhere, means a lot to us, and connects with everyone. Our new ten to year plan reflects our Cultural Ambition. We aim to grow culture and creativity in more places, with more programs and people. We want to make a bigger impact and be more inclusive, diverse, and accessible.
This is our strategy, and we are all responsible for its success. The Cultural Ambition was co to designed with residents and partners. Its delivery will be a shared effort. We will all take responsibility this includes;
The Council,
cultural organizations,
funders,
businesses,
and the voluntary sector will all take responsibility.
We are working for impact, improvement, investment, and inspiration.
Our vision has three main goals:
Everyone
We will make culture accessible to all and recognize the people who make it happen. We will create a ‘cultural welcome’ to the city.
Everything
We will include more of Manchester’s cultural and creative activities. We will ensure culture connects with important issues.
Everywhere
We will create more spaces and places for culture. We will ensure a fair cultural life for everyone, everywhere.
