Visibility is the first step in creating change.

In Music Industry Voices, we come together with professionals from the music industry, listening to their stories about how they started out working in the industry, got to their first jobs, what challenges were faced and which opportunities arose. This way, we are making career paths more visible, disclosing opportunities to those who are starting to work in the industry just now, and inspiring those who are searching a new path in their career.

MIV emerged from the European Music Business Task Force (EMBTF), a Creative Europe funded training programme facilitating a transnational innovative leadership masterclass  for  12 emerging European music business professionals by the globally acting Music Cities Network, and the in Aarhus Denmark based Music Organization Promus and the Creative Leadership experts KaosPilots (Aarhus). The podcast is hosted by Freddie Aitken, Manchester-based Membership Officer at London Youth Choirs, Trustee and F&A member at The National Foundation for Youth Music. He is also the co-founder of Manchester-based electronic music collective Traffic and – last but not least – proud member of the first EMBTF Cohort.

With the MCN, we have a network with a holistic approach to tackle current and future challenges faced by music cities and thereby facilitate exchange and projects to foster the local music ecosystems. To be able to contribute to creating sustainable change for a better and more diverse music industry gives me hope and I am very excited to develop this unique network further together with my inspiring colleagues in the future.
