Gothenburg, Sweden — The Music Cities Network wrapped up its fourth annual Winter Summit in Gothenburg, bringing together the members to collaborate, strategise, and connect. Held alongside the vibrant Viva Sounds Showcase Festival, the summit packed dynamic discussions, city exploration, and live music into every moment, showcasing Gothenburg’s unique creative energy.

Sabrina and Lena kicked off the MCN Summit with a presentation at Viva Sounds, sharing what the Music Cities Network is all about. They talked about how MCN supports local music scenes, encourages collaboration, and helps cities grow through the power of music. Their energy and ideas set the stage for an engaging and forward-thinking summit.

The summit focused on strengthening the MCN’s vision and strategies while deepening relationships among the members. Key sessions explored the development of co-ownership projects that will help solve key challenges of the member cities industries right now. These workshop sessions laid groundwork for new collaborative projects. Members also experienced an immersive tour of Gothenburg’s creative melting pots during a series of inspiring site visits thanks to our dear colleagues and city hosts Fredrik and Daniel:

"We are proud of our city and to host the MCN winter summit is something we have been looking forward to for a long time. We put together a good program that was also timed with Viva Sounds, which is Sweden’s most exciting festival right now. It has been very insightful days with great people and we are looking forward as a city to taking new steps forward together with MCN ."

A special highlight also was welcoming Vilnius, represented by Gabija, as one of the network’s newest member cities. She says:

"Attending the Music Cities Network Winter Summit in Gothenburg was incredibly inspiring. Connecting with fellow member cities, exploring iconic venues, and workshopping strategies to enhance our cities as music hubs highlighted the immense potential of collaboration within the network. The insights we shared will be invaluable in shaping our local strategies, and I look forward to seeing how MCN continues to empower cities to nurturing their music ecosystems"

“Gothenburg has been a fantastic host! We’re now back at our desks, excited to structure and facilitate the incredible ideas generated at the summit. Stay tuned for updates on how these plans will come to life!”

said the MCN team.

As the summit coincided with the city’s renowned Viva Sounds festival, members had the unique opportunity to experience Gothenburg’s live music scene firsthand too!

This year’s summit reaffirmed the networks commitment to collaboration and innovation. With new ideas and partnerships in motion, the MCN is set to impact even greater impact in the year ahead.
