The Covid-19-Pandemic will change our culture and music scenes profoundly during the upcoming months and years. Covid-19 has to be considered in our planning and implementation procedures for networking activities, concerts, and policy development.
With the Music Cities Network Exchange Sessions, we want to raise and discuss key questions the music ecosystem is currently faced with. MCN Exchange Sessions will be the conversation platform for your music city communities, ranging from and connecting policy makers, music businesses, artists, and all other music city stakeholders.
The sessions are target-group-oriented, focussing on vital topics, key learnings, and leading to further arising questions. Our aim is to create a sustainable online exchange, focussing on transnational input evolving into new perspectives and action plans for your music policy work. Let’s learn from each other and shape the future together.
1. Session: Keeping Creatives With Smart Policy Making - How to keep music entrepreneurs from changing careers
The music economy is one of the most affected by the COVID-19-Pandemic. Various new funding schemes and support opportunities have been implemented on all levels to support different stakeholders like companies, managers, & artists working in the business. Nevertheless, due to the complexity of the music economy value chain it becomes clear that not all support is received by the right target group.
What can be done by music policy makers to make sure that music economy stakeholders will survive the economic downturn and don’t change careers? Which measures, tools & formats are already in use or should be used? Which data & knowledge do music policy makers need in order to take decisions? What experiences are gained by fellow international music policy makers to shape a more resilient music ecosystem?
