A wide coalition of organisations from across Europe’s music ecosystem stands united. We call on the EU to ensure that music is not only funded but also strategically supported within #AgoraEU.
On 24 September, Music Cities Network joined 20+ leading European music organisations in co-signing a statement urging EU institutions to adopt a comprehensive policy strategy and ambitious budget for the music sector within AgoraEU 2028-2034.
Music is one of Europe’s most accessible and influential cultural forms - employing over 1.3 million people, driving cross-border collaboration, and strengthening democratic values. Yet, despite its impact, music remains underrepresented in EU cultural policy.
The statement highlights three urgent needs:
❗ Dedicated programmes and calls tailored to music’s realities.
❗ A European Music Observatory for evidence-based policymaking.
❗ Ethical, fair digital and AI principles to guide transformation.
By co-signing, MCN reinforces its mission to connect cities and empower local stakeholders while ensuring music receives the visibility, investment, and recognition it deserves in Europe’s future.
