Music Cities Network at @ Tallinn Music Week 2023

Tallinn Music Week is coming up, taking place from May 10-14, 2023 in Tallinn, Estonia. We are excited to inform you about the MCN related events as well as our recommendations for events of our colleagues you should not miss.

Here's a quick rundown of what you can expect (and should not miss):

Friday, MAY 12th

On Wednesday and Thursday, the internal EMBTF Project Kick-Off will take place. The 12 chosen participants will meet for the first time in real. If you haven’t checked them out so far, please take a look at their impressive resumes on our website. We couldn’t be more excited.

At the Nordic Hotel Forum in Tallinn, we'll be hosting "Focus on Music in Cities with Inputs from the Center for Music Ecosystems and the Music Cities Network" from 11:30-12:45.

Ahead of the publication, we'll be presenting the European Music Policy Exchange (EMPE) Handbook. This project is the first of its kind think-tank for music policy makers to integrate and enhance the role that music plays across city priorities. Our managing director Lena Ingwersen and Executive Director at Center for Music Ecosystems Shain Shapiro will present a first insight into this work.

This event will also feature a book presentation keynote by Shain Shapiro from the Center for Music Ecosystems entitled "This Must Be the Place: How Music Can Make Your City Better". The book examines music’s relationship to cities, arguing for the transformative role of artists and musicians in a post-pandemic world.

After the presentations, we'll be hosting a panel discussion on "The Economic Impact and Social Benefit of Music in Cities," featuring speakers such as Shain Shapiro, Timo Wiesmann, Natalie Mets, and Stuba Nikula, and moderated by Lena Ingwersen.

Later in the day, from 13:00 to 14:30, you can meet our colleagues from Music Moves Europe for a dialogue session on how to further develop a sustainable European music ecosystem in transition in the event: EMEE - European Music Exporters Exchange - Guide to European Markets

In addition to these events, we'd like to highlight some exciting events hosted by our colleagues from Hamburg Music.

They will be hosting a B2B Matchmaking event on Friday from 10:15-11:15 at Nordic Hotel Forum, Room ALTAIR. This is a great opportunity to connect with some of the best music businesses from Hamburg. Do not forget to RSVP here.

Later in the day, they will be hosting a reception at Nudist Winery Bar in Telliskivi Creative City from 5:30-7 pm. Join them for drinks, snacks, and chats with members of the Hamburg music industry.

We hope you will join us for these exciting events at the Tallinn Music Week. Stay tuned for more updates and information & give us a call, if you are there!

See you soon!
